A few stressors around here

The kitchen remodeling continues at our house. Mark has successfully completed his portion of taking out the upper kitchen cabinets and sofits. Now we are ready to have some pipes moved and new drywall put up before the arrival of the new cabinets. So at this point we are about 1/3 through the project, which still feels like we are far from completion.

Just to add to the stress, I have started my second year of coaching Badminton at our local high school. This makes for a busy March & April around our house, as Zach goes to a neighbor's house and Mark is responsible for pick up.

Then on top of that stressor, we have been telling Zach that on his 3rd birthday his pacifier takes a permanent vacation with the 'pacifier fairy' and that he will no longer wear diapers. Well, potty training is going nowhere so we thought we would tackle the pacifier with some hope it might be a success. So last night was our first night of tears and begging for his 'pipe.' He was up during the night for about an hour crying for it. It was just heartbreaking as we so easily could have caved in and given it to him. Even though we felt like the cruelest parents in the world, we stayed strong. We will see how tonight goes....

Hang in there girl!! You are definitely not cruel and he will thank you for it when he's in kindergarten and the other kids with "meaner" parents are getting teased for still carrying around their pacifiers...=)
Okay, maybe not but you know what's best for him and 'this too shall pass'. Easy for me to say, right? =) Can't wait to see you in a few days! BTW, love the kitchen picture!

I love that you had the "fairy" take it away. I wish I would have thought of that when we had to take Jake's blankie away. You will probably have a few rough nights, but then he will get over it. It may be hard though when the baby comes and uses a pacifier. Good luck with that! We're going to have a problem with Ella because she sucks her thumb all the time. I don't quite know how you take a thumb away yet.

Good job, Sara!! I understand now how horrible it is to have a child who cries and it's your fault! After 2 awful attempts at a bottle, Simon finally took it last night. It's the worst feeling ever, even if you know it's the right thing. Love this blogging :)
