Perfect Timing

Not that you can see it in this picture, but Zachary is in the hurt box and today we go to school for the 1st time to meet his teacher... perfect

First of all, I took him for a 'starting school' haircut on Monday and the girl did a terrible job. Its pretty crooked and uneven. It almost looks like I cut it... perfect

Second of all, he had some type of bite in the corner of his eye that he has been scratching which is now swollen, red and puffy. His eye seems to be half shut... perfect

Third of all, while pushing his school bus around on the floor last night he managed to somehow trip over it landing on his face and biting through his upper lip. He of course was freaking out, as there was a lot of blood and immediately swelled up, which he thinks prevents him from eating. And today he says he can't smile because it hurts too much... perfect

So I'm taking my half asleep looking, cranky and hungry, non-smiling child to meet his teacher today. Hopefully first impressions aren't lasting.

its Daddy's birthday

This is a 3 year olds idea of contributing to making a cake...

#1. giving it a few sloppy stirs
#2. nonstop asking to lick the spoon and bowl
#3. patiently waiting to eat the cake after we decorated it, but before the birthday boy sees it

Its the Wiggles or nothing...

Yep, THE BACKPACK HAS FINALLY ARRIVED! Any of you who may have spoken to me within the last few weeks may have known that we have been in search of the perfect Wiggles backpack for school. Zachary was obsessed with getting a Wiggles one and no other backpack would do. And as the first born and his first time going to school, I felt that I must oblige. Anyway, I searched high and low at the stores, well alright, 3 different stores. But going to 3 different stores with 2 kids feels like I searched high and low.

Well, I finally got smart about it and ordered one online with Zach. Well, although at the time I thought I was smart allowing him to pick out his own from the Internet, it turned into a bit of a nightmare. For the past week or so, since we ordered it together, he has literally day and night been asking for his backpack and "why is it not here yet?" Well, needless to say its the last time we order something together, or at least until he understands the concept of time and that things take a few days to come in the mail.

And just to add to the story, he's had it for, oh, about 5 minutes, and one of the zippers just broke! As the English would say, 'bloody perfect.'

At the pool

Saturday and Sunday we were able to take advantage of a couple of free passes to a local country club pool. It was quite nice, they had a big water slide, a nice kids area. I was able to take a nap on the chair while Mark took care of both of the boys. Zach loved the water, Cameron seemed to do pretty well, and I loved it. I read a book, caught up on a few pages of Us Weekly and took an hour nap! I really owe Mark for letting me relax so much this past weekend, but I deserve it, right!

p.s. please note, blog posted by Mark... I wish I could have napped...

the 12 week mark

Phew.... so glad we are into the double digits of weeks! Cameron has officially hit 12 weeks and I'm glad those rough first few months are behind us. Newborns are adorable and precious, but I much prefer older babies, especially ones that are sleeping through the night! AMEN to that!

Cameron is turning into an absolute joy! He seems to be a very mild baby (at the moment anyway), content most of the time unless he wants to be fed, changed or ready to sleep. He is full of smiles and coos non-stop when you talk to him. I love it.

He also is really starting to respond to his big brother, who always seems to be about 2 inches away from his face. All day I'm continually repeating myself, "give him space," "gentle Zach," "just move over a little bit," etc... you get the picture. There's no doubt about it that he loves his little bro, we just need to work on the smothering aspect. I also seem to have a difficult time capturing pictures of Cameron alone, as the minute I haul out the camera, Zach comes running over, yelling "cheeeeeese!" Oh, bless his little heart....

how things have changed

Taking advantage of another hot summer weekend, we headed up to Mark's parents in Wisconsin. The weather wasn't picture perfect for all day at the beach, so we took advantage of a local event. We attended Sheboygan's 'Brat Days.' It seems to be a festival consisting of eating brats, drinking beer, and listening to bands, none of which we were able to participate in...my, how things have changed with 2 kids....

Instead we enjoyed the petting zoo and pony rides. Zach got a bang out of feeding the animals and kept wanting to give them more food. They also had little carnival rides, but he wasn't quite ready to ride on his own, maybe next year.
